The most important things are usually the simplest.
If I could condense all of the customer service principles that I've shared down to one principle, it would be this simple maxim that all of us are familiar with, no matter what our background or beliefs:
"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you."I wish I could embellish or customize this somehow, but I have yet to find a way to improve on perfection.
If all of your customer service systems, philosophies, and goals include this understanding, and demonstrate it in practical ways, then your customers will always experience the highest levels of satisfaction, and you will have the best chance at gaining referred sales and increased market share.
